Custom Packaging for Hotel Amenities: Common Options

Pouches, paper boxes, flow packs, labels and kit packaging compared for hotel amenity programs.

Custom printed packaging options for hotel amenities

Packaging is the fastest way to raise the perceived value of an amenity program, and often the cheapest. This overview covers the formats most commonly used for hotel supplies, what each is good for, and the trade-offs to weigh.

Pouches and bags

  • Non-woven pouch — reusable, reasonably durable and widely used for slippers and kit bags. Prints well and takes a logo cleanly.
  • Printed plastic pouch — the most economical branded option. Choose a heavier film gauge if the pouch will be handled often.
  • Kraft paper pouch — a natural look suited to eco-positioned programs. Less water-resistant than film.

For slippers specifically, a printed pouch is the single most visible upgrade: the item sits in the wardrobe, so the guest sees it every day of the stay.

Paper boxes

  • Folding carton — light, printable and economical. Good for soap, dental kits and small sets.
  • Rigid box with insert — the strongest presentation. Suited to suites, gift sets and corporate amenity programs. Higher unit cost and larger shipping volume.
  • Sleeve and tray — a card sleeve over a tray. A good middle ground: visible printing, sturdy structure.

Flow packs and sachets

Flow packs are sealed around a single item — most commonly soap, shower caps and small accessory items. Sachets suit liquids in small volumes. The advantages are a tight seal, low material cost and fast filling. The limitation is that printing space is small, so they work best with a simple logo treatment.

Labels

For bottles and jars, the label is the packaging. Points that decide the outcome:

  • Label size against the actual bottle. Confirm the physical wrap, not just the artwork.
  • Material. Paper labels suit dry environments; film labels resist bathroom moisture and steam better.
  • Finish. Gloss, matt or textured. Matt and textured finishes generally read as more premium.
  • Mandatory text. Product name, volume, ingredients and warnings must fit legibly alongside the brand.

Kit boxes and set packaging

When several items ship as one set, the box carries the whole impression. Two practical rules: decide the packaging before finalising the items so the insert actually fits, and allow a little movement so items do not rattle during transport.

Choosing between them

  • Protect and transport: flow pack, sachet, individual bag.
  • Present and brand: printed pouch, folding carton, sleeve and tray.
  • Elevate: rigid box with insert, combined with consistent labels across the range.

A practical approach is to upgrade packaging at the tier where guests notice it most — the slipper pack and the soap wrapper — and keep packaging simple where the item is used and discarded immediately.
